NESIT representatives went to Hartford to pick up awards and citations from various organizations and politicians for Advancements in Technology and the creation of the Assisted Technology Training Center of CT. Great job guys!
Darek, Tom, and Tim have been working hard the past few weeks to get an RC R2D2 ready for Wolcott’s Memorial Day Parade. It began with an old Pepsi cooler as the base to work off of. A salvaged hoverboard was used to drive R2, and hobbyist RC plane electronics were used to drive him. A 15W amplifier paired with an arduino played sounds and songs from the series.
It even made the news! (can be seen at around 0:18)
NESIT just got a shiny new toy, a Prusa i3 MK3. Our members love the machine, it’s quality is unbeatable. We’ve had it going all week and cant get enough. Let’s hope the other printers don’t get jealous.
NESIT held a successful sign making class. Everyone had the chance to have a custom stencil made, and were able to bring their sign to life.
This past weekend some NESIT members worked on laser cutting 3D models. They used slicer for Fusion 360 to slice the model, and our 60w Epilog laser to cut the layers from 36×24 sheets of cardboard.
Tim has been perfecting his method of making wooden signs, look out for a class in the future!
Ray has his forge all up and running, and tonight he was melting some scrap aluminum and casting a few ingots. Looks awesome!
